In case you are wondering, we have compiled a list of Pittsburgh organizations accepting donations of back to school supplies for children.  

If you leave these items in our drop off bins, they will be distributed to low income families through our usual channels. We cannot do a full-scale drive, but we’ll do our best to help through the food pantry network which does serve 140,000+ low income people, including many many children. Children need these supplies year round of course.

Pittsburgh based drives:

• South Hills Interfaith Ministries – deadline August 3, 2012.
• North Hills Community Outreach – deadline July 31, 2012.
• Homeless Children’s Education Fund – deadline July 31, 2012.
• We also suggest you contact your nearest elementary school and or the Family Support Center in your community.
